Six Sigma Practitioner Selection Tactics
Six Sigma Practitioners are one of the critical
key elements of every Lean Six Sigma implementation. As ambassadors,
they lead project teams in their specific functional field, support
business functions, and act as cultural transform agents within
the organization. Lean Six Sigma Practitioners are focused on
"closing the value gaps" that exist within their business
and operations area. In addition to that Lean Six Sigma Practitioners
act as project leaders whose goals are to produce high impact
Lean Six Sigma results.
Eventhough, organization possesses great leaders and Lean Six
Sigma Practitioners as their transformation agents but more often
than not, results are not substantial. The following lists are
some of the factors Six Sigma Practitioners initiatives did not
meet expectations:
* Not severing themselves from their old job, at least through
training
* Treating it as an academic exercise
* Failing to appreciate the complexity of dealing with people
* Not transferring ownership of the solution to the team as the
project progresses (the solution becomes personality dependent)
* Not communicating effectively with management - they speak the
language of money
* Avoiding resistance - when you know it is present you have to
deal with it
* Not sharing the credit for the solution with the team
* Taking credit for work accomplished by another initiative or
an ongoing project.
* Not providing the team the opportunity to share the spotlight
(have them attend a management presentation or better yet engage
them in the presentation)
* Not getting at least a basic understanding of the tools required
to do an analysis
* Not tackling roadblocks themselves where they resolve to directly
sought assistance from Champions
These candidates are potential leader of organizations by being
asked to be the Lean Six Sigma practitioner; No doubt it is a
tough job and only the cream of the crop will rise to the top.
Thus, selecting potential Lean Six Sigma
Practitioners play an important factor to determine the success
of Lean Six Sigma.
